Meet the Dolls Running LA's Queer Underground
06/23/26

These are the LA dolls fielding your last-minute guest list request.

You’ll find them hosting and working the door at Los Angeles’ favorite underground parties. But they’re not simply stamping wrists and checking names off a list. These transfemme nightlife workers are the glue that holds the function together, curating the crowd, serving the looks, bringing life to the dance floor, and supporting partygoers from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.

Whether running the door, hosting, emceeing, dancing, bartending, staffing the med tent, decorating, or producing, these dolls are a foundational piece of LA’s best parties. They show up weekend after weekend so you can all dance, cruise, and let loose.

We caught up with LA’s nightlife dolls at downtown watering hole Precinct, Pride warehouse festival Ostbahnhof XL, and beloved Silver Lake summertime ritual Bears In Space at Akbar to talk nightlife etiquette, cruising, and their favorite corners of the queer underground.

Cielo

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Host, public figure, cunt curator, LA city princess.

What tone do you hope to set for the party when people first arrive? I really want people to feel festive. Even when it’s not Pride, I say, “Happy Pride,” because when you’re really gay and you’re really a faggot, it’s always Pride.

Best party in LA? I’m always gonna put on my bitches: NO PRXSSURE, Black Bass Collective. But aside from my bitches, Por Detroit. If you need it, they got it for you, baby. All the bitches are getting fucked at Por Detroit. You go into that darkroom, you’re going to see dresses up, dicks out, titties everywhere, bouncing.

Your place, their place, car, public bathroom, or darkroom? My place. I'm lazy. I'm not putting on no makeup, so if you come over here, it's 4 o'clock shadow, no lashes, saggy titties, and I'm ready to fuck.

Leather, rubber, lace or spandex? Bareback.

Jamie Love

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Supreme host, emcee, dance captain.

What’s the first thing you notice when someone walks up to the door? I can spot someone being a little nervous when they come in, and I gravitate towards those people to let them know that they’re cool, they’re safe. “Hey, don’t worry about it. Lose that thought at the door. Leave all that shit outside.”

Favorite LA DJ? Perfect Lovers, Victor Rodriguez, Heidi Lawden, Masha Mar, John Bryars, Shane Thomas.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen while working a party? I saw someone put a foot into somebody’s body before. And they were loving and living for it.

What are you thinking about when putting together a look for a party? “Oh, my God. I hope the tuck don’t slip.”

Page Person

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Door girlie/host/performer.

Why do dolls make such good vibe curators? We are good at assessing someone’s trustworthiness because we so frequently have people we don’t trust getting up in our space, trying to harm us. We’ve become quick judges of character.

What’s the first thing you notice when someone walks up to the door? The people who are gonna come with some bullshit always have an air of trepidation. Three people will come up looking at each other, trying to figure out who’s gonna talk first.

Favorite LA DJ? Eva Myra May.

What are you thinking about when putting together a look for a party? I wanna be like, “What’s the vibe this fucking weekend?” I make most of my own outfits, so I’ll make one the day of a party to be as fresh as possible.

Angel Zamora

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Host, dancer, door, coat check, bartender, promoter.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen while working a party? These guys were making out hardcore while people were waiting for one of the porta-potties. Somebody was in the actual porta-potty. When those guys were really getting up on each other, they fully tipped it over.

Do people make things up at the door often? Sometimes they will come up to me and be like, “I’m on Angel’s list.” And I’m like, “Oh, really? Can you call Angel right now?” And they’re scrolling on their phone. I’m like, “Sweetheart, baby, I don’t know you.”

Who’s one LA nightlife doll you want to shout out and why? My girl Cielo right now. This bitch is stomping on our necks. I keep telling her, “Girl, calm down. You’re making me look like shit now.”

Favorite LA DJ? Right now, I really love Geoboi.

Dialló Mítch

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Host, promoter, and overall life of the party.

What tone do you hope to set for the party when people first arrive? It’s gonna be the look, it’s gonna gag the girls. After that, I’m a very kind person. I’m going to speak to everybody.

What’s the difference between a good party and a mid party? A mid party is when a DJ is just playing everything you already hear. I be wanting to get put onto new music when I go out to a party. We should be leaving the party like, “Damn, what’s that song?”

Make the first move or wait to be approached? I’m making a first move, no shade. I’m very submissive, but if I have to take control of the sexual experience, I know how to go about that.

Biggest cruising green flag? Big dick.

Luna Lovebad

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Host, promoter, performer.

Why do dolls make such good vibe curators? Trans women can be sort of the matriarch of their friend groups. Sometimes, I step into this mother role, and I’m just always checking in on everyone.

What’s one party etiquette tip you wish more people knew? Sometimes we’re just sardines in a can, just trying to move through, but a little “Excuse me” can go a long way. Especially when you’re pushing a doll to the side—like, don’t do that.

Favorite LA DJ? My baby KNOX, or Mez Monty.

Your place, their place, car, public bathroom, or darkroom? Leave it in the darkroom. You ain’t coming over to my house, and I’m too scared to go over to yours. What if your mattress is on the floor?

Daphne

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Door doll/performer/harm reduction.

What tone do you hope to set for the party when people first arrive? I do harm reduction a lot for the afters. I hope that when people see me, they feel safe and rest assured that there’s someone there who can navigate those emergency situations.

What’s one party etiquette tip you wish more people knew? We’re people, too. No shade, if you’re one of those people wanting to get on lists, build that relationship with people.

Where are the best afters? Avenue 26 tacos, right off Alameda, and my bed. Or BCD Tofu House, if it’s open.

Leather, rubber, lace or spandex? Latex. No shade, latex. Love rubber, it’s not as cunty. Latex down boots.

Kalista Stage

What are your roles in LA’s queer underground? Drag artist, show producer, nightlife host.

Why do dolls make such good vibe curators? We spend so much time repressing ourselves that when we finally have a space that completely accepts us, we let loose in a way nobody else can. We’ve done all the soul searching, and people admire that. They want that.

Who’s one LA nightlife doll you want to shout out and why? When I was hosting the nightclubs in West Hollywood, I saw this one on the dance floor all the time. She would just dance and live her life. I admired it so much because I wasn’t out as a trans woman yet. I was just watching her in awe. And that’s Jamie Love.

Make the first move or wait to be approached? I don’t approach. I attract.

Biggest cruising red flag? You have to look at the eyes. The eyes tell everything. If the eyes are crazy and they’re trying to lead you somewhere, don’t go.
