London’s a city where your plans rarely survive the first drink, and somehow that’s exactly how the best weekends happen. One minute you’re grabbing a coffee in Shoreditch, the next you’re four hours deep into a conversation with a stranger you definitely weren’t expecting to meet.
Beyond the Soho clichés lies one of the world’s biggest queer playgrounds full of sweaty dancefloors, late-night parks, independent queer spaces, and enough attractive commuters to make you miss your stop. Here’s how we’d spend 69 hours in the capital.

WHERE TO STAY
Most visitors instinctively book somewhere in Soho, but Cruisers will probably be better off heading east. East London is where much of London’s queer community lives. Stay somewhere in Shoreditch, Dalston or Hackney Wick..
There, you can spend your days wandering Broadway Market, picking up a new read from queer bookshop The Common Press, hopping between independent coffee shops, or stretching out in Victoria Park if the sun decides to make a rare appearance. When the night calls, Soho is only a short Tube ride away, but don’t be surprised if you end up staying east instead.
WHERE TO WORKOUT
London’s gyms can be almost as social as its bars. Gymbox has become a staple of the city’s gay community, but no branch has quite the reputation of Elephant & Castle. The equipment is solid, the opening hours are generous, and the changing rooms… well, let’s just say they’ve built a loyal following of their own. If you’re just visiting, GymBox offers free trial passes.
If muscles are your love language, make the pilgrimage to Muscleworks Bethnal Green. It’s a mecca for bodybuilders, packed with some of London’s biggest boys from morning until night. And yes, there’s a posing room, because what’s the point in getting a pump if nobody sees it?
Need to raise your heart rate another way? Sweatbox Soho combines a gym with one of London’s best-known gay saunas, making it an easy addition to any Soho itinerary.
WHERE TO CRUISE
When it comes to outdoor cruising, Hampstead Heath is practically queer folklore. The winding woodland paths have been bringing men together for generations, especially on warm summer nights when it feels like half the city has wandered into the trees.
Heading east? Liverpool Street Station has quietly become a favourite for commuters looking to make the journey home a little less predictable. Not far away, the ponds around Haggerston Park are another late-night hotspot worth keeping an eye on. As always, take your time, read the room, and remember that discretion never goes out of style.
If indoor adventures are more your speed—and you’re looking for a sure thing—the aforementioned Sweatbox Soho and the always-open Pleasuredrome remain London’s go-to gay saunas. Pleasuredrome’s sprawling maze-like layout has earned it a loyal following, and if you’re visiting on the weekend, expect to find it very crowded.
WHERE TO GO
Start your evening with cocktails at Old Compton Brasserie, then wander over to Freedom Bar for Heavenly Bodies, a Soho institution that’s packed with some of the city’s best drag every second Sunday. If your trip lines up, don’t miss it.
If dancing until sunrise is more your speed, Feel It has become London’s biggest weekly gay club night, filling XOYO every Friday with a crowd that’s ready to sweat. There’s no official darkroom, but there are plenty of dark corners, and the toilets have developed something of a reputation themselves. For something gloriously messy, head to Dalston Superstore. IRecently crowned the world’s number one queer venue by Time Out, it’s loud, sweaty, chaotic, and somehow exactly where you want to end up at 3am.
Otherwise, if timing is on your side and you find yourself in London for Adonis or Sextou, grab a ticket. They’re two of London’s hottest queer parties, both complete with darkrooms that stay just as busy as the dancefloor.
The next morning, do what every East London gay inevitably does: grab a coffee, have a wander through Broadway Market, browse The Common Press, and convince yourself you’re absolutely not going out again tonight. (You probably are.)
